The Reason for the Cross
Jesus, our Lord, was handed over to death because of our failures and was brought back to life so that we could receive God's approval. (Romans 4:25) God’s Word Translation
For all the religions of the world, Christianity isn’t bad! Yet the only thing all religions don’t accept in Christianity is the cross. There are no news in that; Paul, one of Christianity’s great preachers, affirmed that for all non-Christians, the cross is “non-sense and foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:23).
That is true today, all non-Christians see that the cross is maybe the only unacceptable fact in Christianity; some religions deny it while some others don’t find a point in it.
Here’s the reason of the cross; it is redemption, a man died instead of others.
1. But why did he die?
That’s because those others deserved to die!!
2. Why did they deserve to die?
Because they were disconnected from God!
God is the source of life, if you are disconnected from God, you are disconnected from life!!
4. How did they get disconnected from Him?
They sinned, disobeyed and thereby asking Him to get disconnected from them!
5. Why this man?
Because He is the only unlimited person, that could die instead of all these people over all these ages and all their sins.
6. Who is this man?
He’s Jesus Christ, the Son of God, He is God in the image of man, that’s why He’s the Only unlimited person Who could die for all these people, for all their sins over all the ages of humanity.
7. Why doesn’t God just forgive man?
Although God is the forgiver of all people and the complete merciful, He could have done anything just by few words spoken from Him, yet He is just as well. He made laws and these laws can’t be broken. Imagine a king making a law and then breaking it the next day for being merciful, this means that he doesn’t keep his word.
8. What is that law that required all this cross story?
It is the heart of the law saying that if any person sinned, he then deserves to die since he asked for being disconnected from God!!
9. Why specifically did Jesus Christ, God in the image of man, die on a “cross”?
According to the same God-made law, the death of the cross was the most cursed and shameful. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He bore the shame, the pain, the curse and the judgment of the law on Himself for the sake of others.
10. Who are others?
They are all the people, from all races, from all religions; all the world’s people.
The bottom-line for the cross’s story is that Jesus Christ came to the world to redeem all people, set them free from the shame, pain, curse and judgment of death. He was your substitute for your disconnection from God, so that you would be reconciled to God in Jesus Christ. This is your time now to get reconciled to God, confessing your sin, your disconnection from God and asking Him to get you back to Him in Christ Jesus.
Lord I know I sin, I have been disconnected from you. I have tried to do well but I always knew that I am uncertain to get saved and go to heaven the moment I die. I want to take advantage of what you have done for me. I want to get back to you. Cleanse me from my sin and bring me to you in Jesus Christ. I accept Him and His death on the Cross to save me and get me free from my sin, shame, pain, curse and judgment. I want to have Jesus now as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
